The Problem

Early-stage startups face a fundamental dilemma:

The Structure

Our compensation is primarily in the form of equity, structured similarly to that of a founding team member.

  • Equity Stake: The percentage of equity typically ranges from 5% to 25%, determined by factors such as:

    • The startup's stage 

    • The complexity and scope of the required technical work 

    • The level of our long-term involvement

  • Vesting Schedule: The equity vests over a standard period, typically 3-4 years with a 1-year "cliff." 

  • Hybrid Model (Optional): For more mature projects or extensive scopes, we may operate on a hybrid model that combines a reduced equity stake with a small monthly cash retainer.
